Hong Kong Social Enterprise Association was established in 2009 and is an important platform for the Hong Kong community. The current membership accounts for about 45% of all Hong Kong social enterprises.

The Association actively promotes and supports the development of social enterprises and serves as a communication bridge between the government, business, academics, social welfare and social enterprises. Apart from the implementation of the "Social Enterprise Certification", the Association has made a sound response to the social enterprises. It has advised the Government on the policies of the social enterprises and organised regular workshops to help the social enterprises to enhance their operational capabilities and to co-operate with different organizations to promote social enterprises. The activities held over the years include: World Social Enterprise Forum 2016, "True Social Enterprise Dialogue" Seminar, Hong Kong Social Enterprise Outstanding Staff Recognition Scheme, Overseas Exchange Group.
